Job Description:
THE OPPORTUNITY:
Our Horizon Oil Sands operation is expanding with project spending for 2012 forecasted at approximately $2 Billion with similar spending projected each year for the next 5 years.
• The Civil Coordinator will be responsible for participating in the civil components of the bid, design and constructability reviews of our plant expansion
• Participate in interface coordination between Operations and design firms and as a field coordinator for Major Projects at site
• Interact with contractors throughout the project phases from design, construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning to start-up of the completed projects
• Lead quality and safety efforts to keep lost time injuries to an absolute minimum, in compliance with Canadian Natural and Industry standards
HOW WILL YOU MAKE YOUR MARK?
• Participate in bid reviews and area constructability reviews as required
• Review contractor Construction Execution Plans, schedules and manpower loading in the civil/structural area
• Review contractor designs for work scopes and modularization proposals
• Review contractor QC programs, Inspections and Test Plans
• Monitor work completion as per schedule milestone dates
• Act as Civil/ Structural field construction coordinator for work packages
• Monitor construction compliance to CNRL site specific and Occupational Health & Safety procedures
• Verify construction progress and monitor and inform of scope changes to Construction Manager and Project Manager
• Monitor and participate in audits with safety specialist of contractor safety compliance
• Audit contractor punch-list procedures and participate in punch listing of completed systems, and will be a member of the pre-commissioning team involved in system turnovers
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Typically 10+ years of related industry experience
• Familiarity with and understanding of:
o Concrete excavations and foundations
o Piling installation
o Erection of structural steel including heavy, medium and light steel
o Experienced in erection of industrial buildings including cladding
o Experienced in rigging and hoisting of steel
